Hot & Cold

Hot & Cold
2006.05.02 9:00

Oh, what a chilly morning, foggy morning too. The day before yesterday I slept from 4 PM to 8 PM, it was a Sunday afternoon. I took a nap from 7 to 9 AM Monday, though. Last night I slept from 0 AM to 5 AM just. It's very hot yesterday and a bit cold today.

Golden Week

The world except me is under holiday mode, I too feel so leisurely at work, I feel very relaxed in working. The only holiday I take is the next Sunday. I've been making a point of having a good time with my girlfriend always on every Sunday these two months. Best voyage so far.

My Vacation
2006.05.04 5:09

From 29 th of April to 7th of May, many Japanese people take holidays. In the upper half of this holiday season I found I am less active in making comments in other User's journals. But in fact I have been reading many blogs. Probably it is because it's holiday season right now, reading a blog is my most popular way to spend my free time.
Certainly this is my vacation.

sounds almost like our Spring Break. Is there any special reason or holiday ? Or is it just a good time of year to take a vacation?

In our academic calendar we usually have spring break which is from 25th of March to 7th of April. So spring break is different from the Golden Week. How about the relation with Easter. In some countries early May falls latter half of Easter, but unlike Easter, the Golden Week is not originated from a religeous ceremony.
29th of April, 3rd of May, 5th of May happened to be holidays. So people started taking two or three pay-vacation between these holidays and making 7 or 8 successive holidays. This is the origin of the Golden Week. Now the 4th of May is decreed as the holiday for people so it's easier for people to take successive holidays.
So Golden Week was spontaneous, but believe me, people don't like to work such a nicest season in a year. People prefer to go hiking, orienteering, mountaineering. In this season naturally people prefer not to hide themselves behind the doors.

On The Way

This week I'm working so far as 8 Mon, 9.5 Tus, 6 Wed, 7 Thu. I ought to make an effort not to work too long by coordinating.

Out Of Tunnel
2006.05.08 0:24

I just came out of tunnel of the Golden Week. As if the world ceased moving during these 9 days from 29th of April to 7th of May. If American people think Japanese are workholic, it is not completely true. Japanese life style has been changing rapidly. There's a limitation for everything. Extreme tensions that have supported the prosperity of Japan after the war have been inclined to go downward recently.
But my case was different, I don't work hard as other Japanese as they normally do in the period other than the Week, so I had to work during 9 days. I worked 8, 9.5, 6, 7, 8, 6 so I worked 44.5 hours in a week. Not bad.
