Cherry Blossom Viewing

Cherry Blossom Viewing
2006.04.02 11:11

Cherry blossom viewing. It's a Japanese tradition to go to see flowers and trees in a park around this time of the year.
We are going to West Park today. I plan to send a photo to johndiii this year too.

The Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. is such a big deal because the Japanese people gifted the USA hundreds of Cherry Trees. Not that cherry trees didn't exist in D.C., but the Japanese Cherry trees have exceptional flowers.
There are lots of photos online of the ones in D.C., if Mercedo doesn't have any for ready upload.

I used to watch the scene many viewers were appreciating cherry blossoms along with the estuary of River Potomac. In TV. And the flowers were exactly the same as the ones here.

Welcome. Why I feel so familiar with you while we haven't seen one another even one time. I notice how large the portion of spirit-to-spirit contact occupies in our daily life.
I am very healthy because I've been spending life free from stress by this soul communication.

Of all the things about DC, this is one of the biggest tourism magnets. The folklife festival in the summer is a big one, as are the independence day celebrations. However my favorite is the kite festival. That's one of the best kept secrets. And if you live in the region, don't forget about the notorious punkin chunkin [punkinchunkin.com] contest. It's amazing what idle time and a ridiculous contest can do...

Actually I've been to DC three times. It was many years ago though. It was early summer twice and late summer once, so I only saw trees with lots of green leaves.
Cherry trees change their views completely as the seasons go by. So we are unable to imagine cherry blossoms in full swing from the green leaves tree. It was only one week that we can see the blooms in full swing. So it will be very fortunate if I could visit DC again around this time of the year.
