In my primary school days in Kokura we had a place called a Hundred Steps. On the way to cistern at the top of very small mountain. One day I counted how many steps the staircase has. It was 231.

A staircase is a collection of steps. Perhaps you mean the staircase had 231 steps?

Oh, what the size of the small mountain is for it has 231 staircases! I learned one step.
