Oil Price
Oil Price
[ #122228 ] Wednesday November 16, @09:56AM
I had a chance to know what price the oil is being sold in the USA. It was $2.57 per gallon in California. The usage of gallon is not common here so I looked it up in Wiki, then I converted.
1 gallon is approximately 3.8 litre.
Our current price of oil is $1.23 per litre, so that is $4.67 per gallon. $2.57 versus $4.67, we pay about 1.8 times as expensive as that in the USA. We are not frightened from this result, since almost all the cases we pay much more. That frightened me is instead how high the price of oil in the USA is. Japan doesn't produce any crude oil, whilest USA has got many oil fields in Texas & Alaska. One of the reasons this rise of oil price is of course the storm of Katrina that damaged many refineries around the Gulf of Mexico. As a matter of fact, the US government asked Japan to export our stored oil fastened off the shore that is for 210 days in use in case of emergency or other energy crisis as we sufferred in the event of oil shock in 1970s. You see Japan is one of the strongest allies of the USA in East Asia, so our government agreed to export part of its stored oil to the USA though we haven't heard yet whether the export was actually done.
We have no crude oil, that causes the price of oil more expensive naturally. In the case of USA, because they lost enough refineries to produce enough oil to sustain needs of their people, thus the rise of oil price occurred. My point is if the USA couldn't catch up with the oil consumption in existing refineries in the USA, why not export crude oil to Japan, I believe we can produce more refined oil than now and we can store oil more than now off the shore at the same time we can export refined oil to the USA to meet the unchanging necessities of American people.
Please export not only beef but also crude oil. This opinion only reflects my personal view. I have to add that there are many views as to the matter of import from the USA. -Freer Trade makes the prices of oil both in the USA & Japan lower than now.
Try.

That means $0.55 a litre, in the case of California it's $0.68 a litre.

Supposedly already refined petroleum products are too expensive to safely long haul (as in long distance shipping). Especially highly explosive derivatives, like gasoline.
That said, if the US were not such a huge IMPORTER of oil already, export would be a great idea though. As it is, Japan would probably benefit from buying more oil from our biggest source... Canada.

Canada, USA, Russia, China, Australia, even Brazil, Mexico too are much bigger countries than here.
We have really scarce natural resources, so basically we welcome any natural resources.
Once we tried to prevent human resources entering from overseas, but the current was just overwhelming so we are now willing to accept any resources -human, natural whatever.
I sometimes watch TV programs, French, German, Russian, of course plenty of English, besides Chinese, Korean, Arabic, tremendously lots of languages are being poured into the soil of Japan already. We have nothing for it but to just watch and see what's going on here.
Probably I am also one of the victims of this internationalisation of Japan. But if I were called a victim, I'd rather be willing to accept to be a victim, since I feel very happy to communicate with you through the Internet.[ Reply to This Parent ]

Well, since the oil companies are recording record profits these days, I think they're pretty happy with the way things are. Oil will ocntinue to be a weight on all industrial countries until we can move forward to a cleaner, more effecient form of energy consumption. [ Reply to This ]

We've got no crude oil production, so it's natural the price of oil is higher than that in the USA. If the rise of oil price was caused by the lack of refinery factories in the USA, I just thought we'd better have more crude and the USA would have more refined oil by accelarating the trade, that makes our global economy more viable.
It will take another 50 years for fossil fuel to be replaced by another form of energy supply. That might be related to fusion battery, solar, wind, tidal wave, human? etc.[ Reply to This Parent ]
