The Rise Of Crude Oil Price ( Done Till This)

The Rise Of Crude Oil Price
2006.04.20 3:38

The rapid inflation of crude oil price has been in progress. 40% higher than last year. Gasoline price by one litre is 131 yen right now, because one gallon is equal to 3.785 litre, one gallon of gasoline is 495.8 yen, which is about $4.23. ($1=Y117)
This so affects every nook and cranny of entire life here in Japan. But I must admit this society is so stagnant still, unbelievably. Inefficiency has prevailed everywhere. Japanese people cannot change themselves on their own, but they are vulnerable to pressure out of other countries, especially from USA.

Right now, in minnesota one can buy a gallon of 'E85' (the flex fuel alternative) for $2.20 Regular E10 (I can't remember if minneosta changed to E20 yet or not.) is $2.70ish. Yes, one needs to buy a special car, I wish FORD would switch it's st. paul plant over to flex fuel vehicle production... instead of closing it down.Arguements have been made about if 'corn ethanol' is that viable, and perhaps not for wide scale roll outs, but a lot of other potential ethanol sources are viable. Switchgrass comes to mind http://bioenergy.ornl.gov/papers/misc/switgrs.html[ornl.gov]Not to mention my favorite plant, algea, which produces biodiesel and/or ethanol almost in entirety. Not to mention brazil has done very well using sugarcane to ethanol production. So, there you have it. the problem is or course getting peopel to BUY the flex fuel vehicles, which have to be MADE and SOLD as well as having the Fuel available enough places and affordably enough to make it viable.

The only reason it's a "dead horse", is because they are much harder to find than the commercials let on. THe first flex fuel push was in 2001, and there were more flexfuel models then than there were in 2005 - when I bought my car.
Even for the cars that are available (like the Ford Focus), it's only on the 'Fleet Sales' models (which are near impossible to find). Maybe, come 2008, we will probably see a lot of flexfuel vehicles in the commercial market... but by then we'll have lost another two years.
I live in Shakopee, and work in St. Paul (thankfully not for Ford), and the time to do something about making the plant viable came and went 15 years ago. Sadly, it's simply not big enough to mass-produce vehicles on the level that Ford needs to.

flex fuel really took off in brazil though. i think the main problem is that ethanol production from corn doesn't really 'tap' the suns energy, so mush as allows the corn growers to overproduce and always have a 'plan b' on what to do with excess corn, and corn stalk. great for corn growers but it's hard to make a push for flex fuel when people see it as just helping corn growers. i tell you what though if demand for ethanol went up, there would be a lot of farmers considering switching to switchgrass production, due to the lower overhead costs and higher yields. especially since all the equipment needed is already in the fleets of most farmers, or can be added to their existing tractors at low costs.i don't see a problem with corn farmers maing excess corn into ethanol either, better than letting it go to waste. more like 'recycling' the energy and cost put into making sure the world has enough food*.*= by that of course the people who can afford to buy it.

Quiz Night

Quiz Night
2006.04.20 2:45

The day before yesterday I slept 6 hours at night. Last night, therefore I only slept 3 hours. Strange it to say though I only sleep 5 hours at longest in a day. If I slept more than 5 hours, I cannot sleep more than 4 hours next day.
So it was a long day today. Since I woke up at 7 in the morning after I went to sleep at 4 AM.
I went to another satellite city to have a workshop as to my job skill up for 5 hours. So my entire working hours are just 5 hours today. But because I had to learn many new things, my tiredness just accumulated piles and piles so high, so after I finished this session, my fatigue was apparently considerable. Soon after I finished, I rushed into my girlfriend house -my girlfriend, age 41, is also in the middle ages soon noticed my extreme weariness, so gave me an encouragement no one else can do. But my compiled fatigue never show state being extinguished, so just once in a blue moon I went to a foreigner's bar to have some fun probably for the first time for one year.
Firstly I went to A****, it wasn't good enough. Secondly I went to B***, but no one but few were there. It was not good enough to have some fun. Then thirdly I went to C***. It was still before happy hours expired -till 10 PM they offered us 50% discount for any drinks. I ordered first Sledge Hammer and next Melonball. Both are vodka based. I was able to rejuvenate myself rapidly.
It happened to be the quiz night. Unlike other Japanese unfortunately since I understand English well, I was allotted to the member of team 'The Rest of the World' . This was a USA versus the rest of the world team quiz entertainment program.
The result was USA 4 versus The Rest 0, we lost. I was drunk a lot and I made a speech at the hall. 'American people tend to believe that America is the world and the world is America, but actually...' I stopped making a speech. 'But actually America is a part of the world, there are many worlds other than USA.' I just said to myself.
It was the real quiz.

She started making a lengthy speech without being asked by me as to her recent situations in which she said she's been trapped by severe financial difficulty and unable to get out of it. After she almost finished talking about her recent mishaps one-sidedly, finally she said, ' I have only $200 left now.' She never knew I had only $100 in my purse then.

Since I started taking holidays on Sunday, I have been able to take a rest fully. Because all other friends take holidays on Sunday, I can get more oppotunities to see each of them. Mt Oil

Mt Oil
2006.04.17 7:58

My ex was unwell this Sunday so I went to Mt Oil by myself. Mt Oil is located behind our city. It is not a high mountain at all. Long ago the mountain was famous for its production of oil obtained from camellia. I just went to on the foot of the mountain. I was able to see the landscape of whole city. On the way back to my home I found many flowers just beautiful. The season of cherry blossoms viewing just ended and the tree started getting leaves as well but other many flowers - camellia, magnolia, plum trees, etc were all beautiful and in full swing. Back in my home I found acer in my small garden very beautiful, since my cohabitant has watered a lot during winter and have been given fertilizer -which is rotten oil, the colour of leaves are just vividly vermilion.
It was just another perfect autumnal day.

It must be a marvellous view (photos never quite do justice to reality). I also did a google image search for the area; you live in a beautiful city, though I didn't see any photos with the trees in bloom. I imagine it must be magnificent right now.The logic behind the name of the mountain is fascinating, the word taking its definition from context and history that way. A kind of lateral thinking. It might also explain a question that has bugged me for a long time: where did the band Hawkwind get the name of their album "Hall of the Mountain Grill"?

Thanks for the photos, very kind of you to send them. I must say, I've always been amazed at how a technologically advanced country like Japan retains such a stong cultural love of nature; though perhaps I should be more appalled by the European tradition that nature is there to be conquered and controlled.Truthfully, I knew about the Mountain Grill; naming the album after a real mountain just seemed a little more...grand? Best Teacher

2006.04.15 3:04

Who is the best teacher?
The answer is a teacher -Not so good and not so bad.
I mean here a class teacher, not a tutor who teaches someone personally.
I was a very good teacher, so some student felt really appreciated in my way of teaching. But some felt my class is very bad, my class was designed for a particular student, so some student didn't like my class. It is difficult to have all students satisfied, so we have to aim at the middle of strata, inevitably the class's going to be moderate. It is difficult to meet all their demand, we usually aim at the middle of strata in class. Inevitably it is not interesting from both ends.
I want to teach personally, that's the best way.

I was assigned to go to 4 days job skill up training course which will have been held four times per one class in a week. I know the trainer who is soon to retire in June. He is 59 now. He suggested going to eat with him. This is the first rarity I encountered today. So I said,' Because you proposed me to eat with you, you ought to pay.' He said, 'No, let's pay each.' I didn't think it's common for us guys to pay each by ourselves, then I said nothing and agreed to go out. This was the second rarity. On the street, he started smoking. Third rarity. In the cafeteria, he was still smoking. Fourth rarity. In the first place I never eat in restaurant for some reason, so it's fifth rarity.
He started talking to me about his future after he retired. He was expecting to work by 70% worthy of his last salary and offered to work in $10 per hour. He told me he's still considering but he was very disapointed. I said, 'I never entered the work force. I don't expect anything from my company.' 'You have no retirement.', he said. 'Right ' I said.
'Did you quit smoking?', he asked, and I said, 'There's no alternative to smoke in my life.'
He said he entered the company in hope of working till retirement, this was happy when he started working, it's been changing for these ten years.
I think we both showed great empathy one another, he was in trouble as to after his retirement. His first rarity comes from that.
'Did you quit smoking?' I was strongly impressed by the word.

The term wife is used for a woman that got married to me legally. So even if she doesn't live with me and haven't had sexual relationship with me, that doesn't matter. She keeps on being my wife. The term love or girlfriend is used for a woman who has sexual relationship but doesn't live with me. The term concubine is used for a woman who lives with me and has sexual relationship with me but is not married to me. The term cohabitant means a person that live with me, so cohabitant might be my wife, my mom, my dad, my kid, my servant, my grandma, my grandpa, my grandchild. Sometimes my cohabitant means a dog or a cat that lives with me.
Isn't "cohabitant" a great word?
My cohabitant gives me stability, security, and tranquility, so my cohabitant is a great person, but the word cohabitant itself has nothing to do with the greatness itself.
It was already seven or six years ago that once I lived with a woman who is very rich. I wanted to marry her and proposed her to marry me. She said, 'No, I have no merit to do so.' That's right, it was going to be a misalliance. I might have gotten a great benefit, but she would have lost many things. So for two full years, I was a sex slave, but it was a really rejoicing experience though. I admit though almost all women hope marriage. I feel remorse in my situation.
As to your song. I have just heard your song. It was a great song, you should have written the title of the comment as 'Isn't "cohabitant" a great song?' I didn't have to write such a long reply.

Oh, I see. You like the word 'cohabitant'. It is rare for us to have a liking for some particular word unless we have some association with the word. I used to live together with very strange people, the word is associated with good and bad memory. We had often had quarel with one another when I lived with someone. This time rather belongs to rarity.
I must admit though that I am always a very analytical person as such. I think much more than ordinary people. But believe me I am also a very sensitive person. Sensitive here means showing great appetite in art. So when I found your name in my friend's list in devianArt, I felt greeat pleasure. (Though still I don't know how to befriend you.)

I suppose I see your point. I have bad associations with the word "roommate". I had several "roommates" in college that I had disagreements with, as you say "quarrel". We don't really call them "cohabitants", although that's what they are.
On deviantArt, you add them to your deviantWatch list. When you go to someone's profile, on the bottom of the first main box, there's an icon on the far right of icons on the bottom...it looks like a person with a "+" sign by it. You can choose from the next screen what of them you want to watch - journals, "deviations", scraps, etc.
Do I smoke? As in cigarettes? No...My parents do. My sister does. I do not. I have a cigar [pipesandcigars.com] occasionally. Not usually when I compose/write music. I might have a drink or two, though. Wine usually anymore, but I like beer.
I agree, "debauchery" is also a great word. :)

Following story is a fiction. I made it in my imaginary world.
One day I was pointed out that I made a mistake in my job. So I said to him, 'It is not your job to point out someone's fault, but supplement their faults. That's why you were here. Nobody's perfect, we are completing our job as a whole.'
To tell the truth, I didn't say so in front of him but people around him, and I found his attitude changed soon.
Some people don't understand what I say well, and keep on criticising as if it were their job. They are wrong, but usually I leave the office.
They never know they have to leave their office if I pointed out their faults. Indeed they are a fault itself.

For myself, I much prefer a co-worker tell me directly that I'm messing something up. If they tell me so politely. It's better than them telling my boss.
Tact: a way to approach a sensitive subject without insulting or blaming.
Tact is very important: "If you do it this way, it'll be easier for the next person who must handle this job."
Without tact: "You have made a mistake. You are wrong. Do this, not that."
Does that make sense?

When I found some faults made by them, I do myself without telling them anything.
After I did it myself, I urge them to pay more attention to the miss I found without mentioning who made a mistake. Because someone's fault is more likely to be others' faults. This might work as a caveat. When I made a mistake, I am willing to admit that I did it. If someone pointed out that I made a mistake in other's presence, of course I am willing to accept their advice. But I do point out their mistakes in other's presence when they did. That's what I did this time.
We usually do some work in 5-7 people as a team. Everyone has their part, some play decisive parts while others play peripherals. Yet everyone is necessary to do their best to complete the work. While they are doing so, some of them subject to making a mistake. It's inevitable, human to error, however there're someone who always point out and scold other's miss. I don't like to work with those guys. I think we ought to try to complete one work making up for minor misses some of us made. By all.

Kidding is named so because it is effective to the kids of age 2-3 years old and 13-15 years old. They are in resistance period, they always oppose what we say, so by kidding they do against what we say, thus kidding is effective to the kids of these ages.

We don't like long rain in autumn. As we have long rain, we are getting closer to the arrival of winter. On the other hand, we like long rain in spring. It gets warmer day by day. So when I found not so happy people around here, I feel perplexed.
We have had three or four consecutive rainy days, with a short interval of good weather from time to time. I found quite a lot of people here and there fell in melancholy this turning point of two seasons. Especially here in this tiny island. It really amazed me that many people are very fluctating, vulnerable, sensitive, naiive, sentimental, in short they are melancholic.
I am never depressed, I always think things positive.
Certainly I am happier than them.

2006.04.12 2:36

Last night I slept at 3:30 AM. It was a little bit earlier for me to go to sleep, and I woke up at 11:30 AM. I slept too much.
I work 6 days in a week in which I start working at 10 AM for three or four days and at 12:30 PM for three or two days, so my working pattern is like 8 8 6 8 8 6 or 8 6 6 8 8 6 ( from Mon to Sat, hour of work ), my total workinhg hour is 42 or 44 in a week. This is one of my best working hours.
My sleeping hour is usually 5 hours, but sometimes when I feel very tired I sleep longer. Yesterday was such a night. So when I got up at 11:30 AM, I didn't feel well and I didn't go to work.
After working 6 hours, I felt more vigorous, I was rejuvenated by work. Works work not only for means of making a living but practicing physical exercise. I am free from fatigue now. This is a favourable other side effect of labour that I thought.

Japanese slashdotters often use 'orz', this is not a misspelling of 'org'. 'orz' means 'I finally gave vent to my emotion fully.' (According to my impression.)

2006.04.09 20:41

My ex and I have been seeing every Sunday these days and today we went to South Park. After we finished climing the hill and walking around the philosopher's path, we got on her car and left the park. On the way to our residence, the high class domestic car called 'Fuga' was ahead of us. The peculiality I found in the car was its tail lamp. 'I cannot endure watching these tail lamp.' It was like ball-bearings, probably about ten lights were arranged in a shape of circle in a tail light, and the moment I saw the shape of lights, I got strong nausia. She knows I am very vulnerable to a kind of sound, light, especially in case it's repetitious and a lot. This time I saw was the one that I can't put up with. 'I also feel unwell to these lights, it's too strong and stimulus.' She also agreed to my claim.
Fuga was an Italian word and Japanese car makers always prefer to name their products in Latin names. The word fuga in English is fugue, and fugue also means some confused state of mind. The car led me to the state as such.

Generic Chicken

Generic Chicken
2006.04.09 20:04

I sometimes buy precooked chicken so that I don't have to cook it again at home. There are several supermarket that sells such produce.
Recently I found the taste and tongue touch of these precooked chickens are very similar to each other wherever I purchased them. You know there's a famous giants everybody knows, but of course what I buy was not that giants'. But the taste and tongue touch of these generic chickens are also very similar to that famous giants', but the prices are much reduced. $1 each as opposed to $2 in original one, and unlike the case of drugs, there's no reduced effect found, just the slight difference we found but the difference affects us in a good way. Because sometimes we want to eat something different in taste and tongue touch. Besides in the case of generic chicken, the price is a half of the original ones. The producers of generic chicken wouldn't say, however, that they analysed every nook and crany the ingredients of the recipe of giants.
Probably many foods were produced in a clandestine recipe in a generation to generation basis in one family company long long ago. Source, soup, whisky, etc, and as times go by, people around them started producing similar foods as well. We cannot keep on hiding something very good.

So whatever the language I used, it was not a matter. The matter was I used such a language or a meta-language. So they couldn't understand my poem, it was a natural thing.
If they try to understand through an ordinary language they use in their daily life, it is categorically deniable that they can understand my poem. In the end we ought to understand poems through our instinct or a meta-language, not our reason or an ordinary language.

One of my co-worker is a University student, he is in senior now, a year ahead of his commencement, usually almost all students in their four grade have already decided where they go after they graduated - usually a company they are going to work, so as is usual I asked him whether he has already decided the company he will be engaged in. 99.5% students go to workforce soon after their graduation. He said 'No, I am not going to be engaged in a company, I want to be an actor.' Immediately I replied, 'You know there's a law of success?' 'I don't know' he said. ' You are sure to succeed. 99.5% students are going to be engaged in a company, that means majority people are out of course from success. You are one of .5% people already. This is a law of success.'

This is a post personally I feel it difficult to reply. Since many people call me I'm genius since I was a child, I know I'm genius and I don't hesitate to call myself a genius.
He should have said that many people call him a genius or he knows he's genius.
Genius has much to do with creativity. Genius has to challenge something new perpetually. That's what I think it's genius, not just that someone who shows extreme skill.
Many people call me a genius and I myself knows I am, but only history can tell who was genius. Unfortunately we can't live that long.
As to the difference of insane people and genius. Genius has got similar mentality as insane people have. But he overwhelmed his insanity and is able to handle with his insanity completely. While insane people were just overwhelmed by the darkness of their mind.
Should I post this?
I do and I shall wait for a judgement of history.

Recently I've been visiting Slashdot Jp, there they are wondering whether I am really a Japanese. So that was one of the reason I posted my Japanese writings in Slashdot Jp, they will soon realise I was very senior in writings in Japanese.

I was anticipating comments like this. It's my fault, I didn't fully explain it. You see if you say 'I want to play in a pool bar' I understand you want to play billiards since I know pool means two -water cistern and a ball game. But someone doesn't know these difference, probably asks, a pool bar? A bar with a pool? Or Bar means many -rod, lounge, jurisdiction, etc. This time is similar and much more complicated, the sound of Japanese is so limited that just the sound Zen means five or six usually. Japanese joke patagon did versus American joke I did.
It was at the end of the fiscal year on the 31st of March that he was working. So I thought he was working in a room with a lot of people congested. He wrote he was working in 'a mackerel room', so I imagined as if it were a lot of sushi with a vinegered mackerel on it packed like sardines', though at the moment I came up with the scene I couldn't recall the English term for 'server', I never mind since I ended up the expression of 'packed like sardines'. As a matter of course, I knew blue fish mean mackerel, weak fish mean sardines, just I didn't think it's important.
These are the interpretation of my post 'You meant a room packed like sardines?' It was not a joke. I thought you meant so by 'server room'.Japanese joke was just from phononym server-Saba, while I thought mackerel was used sushi packed like sardines.

A Day's Excursion
2006.04.02 21:39

It was rainy this morning but when we started going on a picnic to Mt Aratsu, the sky was as clear as the deep blue sea. It was windy though. We went to Mt Aratsu where whole mountain forms a park called West Park. We enjoyed seeing cherry blossoms. They were a little bit prior to full swing, and because of the strong wind we had last night, the flowers were not as good as we saw the last year.
There we went to see a poem in 'Collection of Ten Thousands Leaves' that said,'Like perpetual waves at the cape of Aratsu, am I going to keep on loving my wife?'-written in 723 A.D. Many times soldiers here were forced to leave their home in Osaka for here in Yahoo! City, so they were longing for their wife who lived separately.
My ex said 'It's a good song' It must be her unfalsifiable thinking.
We walked around the small mountain hand in hand. And on the way back home, we went to Yahoo! Dome. Many new facilities were constructed there. I sent several photos to johndiii. I wrote a journal. I go to sleep.

The Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. is such a big deal because the Japanese people gifted the USA hundreds of Cherry Trees. Not that cherry trees didn't exist in D.C., but the Japanese Cherry trees have exceptional flowers.
There are lots of photos online of the ones in D.C., if Mercedo doesn't have any for ready upload.

I used to watch the scene many viewers were appreciating cherry blossoms along with the estuary of River Potomac. In TV. And the flowers were exactly the same as the ones here.

Welcome. Why I feel so familiar with you while we haven't seen one another even one time. I notice how large the portion of spirit-to-spirit contact occupies in our daily life.

Of all the things about DC, this is one of the biggest tourism magnets. The folklife festival in the summer is a big one, as are the independence day celebrations. However my favorite is the kite festival. That's one of the best kept secrets. And if you live in the region, don't forget about the notorious punkin chunkin [punkinchunkin.com] contest. It's amazing what idle time and a ridiculous contest can do...

Actually I've been to DC three times. It was many years ago though. It was early summer twice and late summer once, so I only saw trees with lots of green leaves.
Cherry trees change their views completely as the seasons go by. So we are unable to imagine cherry blossoms in full swing from the green leaves tree. It was only one week that we can see the blooms in full swing. So it will be very fortunate if I could visit DC again around this time of the year.

Tradition

Tradition
2006.04.02 5:37

Part of the reason I was unable to realise was time lag between USA and here, here it's already over April the first, besides it's not our tradition to do so, so.
I changed my preference and set up Eastern Standard Time. I am longing for the day is over.

Joke?

Joke?
2006.04.02 5:31

Reading many Slashdotter's journals, now I gradually believe it's merely a joke. April Fool joke. You see it's a tradition in Western nations, but certainly not here one of East Asian countries. As if I were caught by a ghost, but if it's just a temporary, of course I can endure -I think.

Its related to the pre-Christian calendar and pagan celebrations of the spring equinox. Unfortunately, being a tradition approaching two thousand years old, the exact origin is lost. Also unfortunate is that America is not one of the countries that observes the tradition of only committing pranks before midday, so the colour scheme will stay this way until the 2nd arrives on their shores. But yes, it is only temporary.I have my own tradition regarding April Fool's day jokes: I can be a good sport about people's jokes if they can be a good sport about being punched in the face. Some day I'll have to invent a device that allows this over the internet; the closest I've come so far is a web page that asks them to look really closely at their CD/DVD drive, then issues an "open tray" command after a short delay.

Around this time of the year is a turning point from long winter to short spring. People here get together under the cherry tree day and night, drinking, eating, singing, dancing, sometimes taking off their cloth people enjoy having fun. April Fool is also based upon such a jocular one.
After this season passed, again people start pursuing serious business. April Fool and Cherry Blossom Viewing, both work as an oasis in our life.
